ABOUT US

The “Istituto Comprensivo” of Lanusei was born from the union of three different orders of school: Nursery school (children from 3 to 5), Primary school (children from 6 to 10) and “Scuola Media” (boys and girls from 11 to 13). Each order of school works both individually and at the same time in cooperation with the other two, all the teachers belonging to the same “Collegio Docenti”. In the Nursery School we have 4 sections, in the Primary school 10 classes and in the Scuola Media there are six classes.

Our school has been a constantly growing cultural centre in deep touch with the surrounding reality to which it is strictly linked.
In our “Istituto” many projects are carried out in order to stimulate our pupils’ interests and passions. It is also important for us to create a climate of cooperation with families to inform them and to involve them in all the activities which take place at school.

Our goals, of course, change according to our students’ different ages: in Nursery school it is important to fulfil their need of affection and to learn them to socialize and to become a part of the school community.
In Primary school It is important to learn them to create good relationships and start to have as a target an adequate cultural level.
In the Scuola Media these processes are more and more developed and increased so that the cultural level and the psychological development can be taken into the proper consideration.

Lanusei (Lanusèi in Sardinian language) is an Italian small town of about 5.500 inhabitants. After Tortolì, it is the biggest town of Ogliastra (a beautiful area on the east coast of Sardinia).
The history of Lanusei is connected to the powerful presence of the clergy, which has always had a great importance. The “Salesiani” built their first house in Sardinia in 1902.
In Lanusei there is the local Court of Justice, the hospital and the Local Health Centre (ASL N 4).
The astronomical observatory can be found on Mount Armidda at about 1100 metres A.S.L. and it is dedicated to “F.  Caliumi”.
An asteroyd, discovered in 1984, is dedicated to Lanusei and brings its name.
In Lanusei there are many open air festivals and we can remind in particular the cherry festival which is held at the end of June.
